I suppose this is a little late, but here are the reasons that I am
running for the position of president.
We need to refocus. I'm tired of the infrequently organized and poorly
advertised meetings that this club has been having. I'm very grateful
for those you had to step forward and volunteer to present at meetings.
I'm not sure we would have done anything without you.
Being president is a simple job. It's all delegation. The president
simply makes sure that we have good meetings by reaching out to people
and actively finding good speakers. He makes sure that the meetings are
properly announced, properly advertised, and that we have a room scheduled.
It's embarrassingly simple, yet this is my platform:
1. I will seek out good presenters for our meetings. I've been around
for a while, and I've gotten to know the locals. I'm familiar enough
with our current members, many of our local alumni and PLUGers that I
won't have a problem finding people to present at our meetings. Contrary
to what you might have heard, finding presenters in Utah Valley is not a
difficult task. With great support
2. I will see that our events are planned out in advance and that the
club is properly notified on the website and mailing list (yes, even
with correct times and dates).
3. I will see that each of our events are properly advertised with
flyers posted in appropriate places.
This is why I'm running. As president, I'd love to hear about other
ideas that people have for improving the club, but I promise that we
will at least have the basic things in place, and that we will actually
have an active organization to improve upon.
I actually have presidential experience in this club. While I was
vice-president, I had to fill in many times for our president. It was
not the best year of the club, but we got things done. This club really
needs to refocus and get back on its feet.
There ya go.

P.S. - I'm also running for librarian because I've got shelf space in
the TMCB, I've been doing a decent job for the past year, and I've got
plans for the future. Yay me!
